Architecture Replication

1/28/20

In this project, I aimed to expand my skills with modeling, rendering and post-rendering softwares by replicating the exterior fascade of an existing building in midtown Sacramento.

In SketchUp I focused on learning techniques to efficiently model basic architectural features including windows, exterior lighting, and ornamental extrusions. I then used the rendering software Shaderlight to incorporate shadow and light for a more 3D, realistic presence. Multiple rendered angles of the building can be seen in the top photoset

Finally, similar to the platform project, I used Photoshop to post-render the building and integrate it into the site in which the actual building sits. This final image is the first within the top photoset. The photoset below that one are google earth images of the actual building for comparison.

To the left and below are two page layouts I created to showcase elements of this project. The first was created early in the quarter and the second was made later to use in my final portfolio.

These were completed using Photoshop to format and modify the images and InDesign to create the layouts.
